Schedule:

All courses (except the seven-week Music4KIDS! and Theater4KIDS! courses and the second of the 6-calendar week intensive single-subject visual arts courses for grades 7-12) begin the week of January 15th and run through the week of April 9th – catastrophe at MUSD Spring Interruption.  Also, no classes February 27, 28, and March 1.

The 7-week long KIDS! courses begin on Monday, January 29th and proceed each calendar week until March 16 – skipping President's Day on February 19.  The first 6-week, single-field of study, visual arts course runs Tuesdays from Jan 16th – Feb 20th, and the second 6-week course runs Tuesdays March 6th – April 10th.

Many courses are longer than they were in the Fall, then prices take been adjusted accordingly for those longer courses.

Costs:  All courses are essentially subsidized already.  However, nosotros want no child to miss out due to a financial situation, so needs-based financial assistance is bachelor to partially beginning class tuition (and instrument rental if applicable) for students who authorize (bailiwick to availability).

  • The seven-week "Kids!" class for children in grades 1-3 are $35. May be paid in two equal payments.
  • Hour-long, 12-calendar week courses are $95 per course (may be paid in three equal payments).
  • Hour-and-a-one-half, 12-week music, drama, and visual art courses are $135 per class (may be paid in three equal payments).
  • The 6-week Visual Arts courses are an hr-and-a-one-half and are $100 per grade, which includes fine art supplies (may be paid in two equal payments)
  • All classes include the use of books at no boosted charge. If students want to keep or write in their music books in that location will be a book fee of betwixt $6 and $15 (near music books volition exist used in the Spring session courses that follows the Fall session courses).  Musical instruments are not included in the tuition (except that Pianoforte students will be provided instruments for utilise in the classroom). Use of drum practice pads and sticks in included in the percussion course price. Violins, violas, cellos, saxophones, flutes, clarinets, and trombones are available for highly-subsidized rental rates and may be included as part of a financial assistance bundle.

IMPROV "FUN"-DAMENTALS –This fast-paced and exciting class introduces the pupil player to various skills through theater games to create fantastic performances. Bound into some seriously hilarious improvisational work—learn to build heady stories and create fascinating characters and present them in the nearly awe-inspiring way.  Students have fun, play hard, work together and find their individual voices while learning the rules and strategies for taking risks, playing for truth and thinking on their feet.

MASK FOR CHARACTERIZATION –This class uses graphic symbol (expressive) masks as a tool to explore character development through the technique by Libby Appel. The class describes, defines and discusses the mask characterization process, providing the theory backside the exercise's footstep-by-step process in the organic development of grapheme from the mask. The class adds an exciting and fun new dimension to actor training and learning, assuasive the student actor new and diverse tools in order to create organic and honest dramatic characterizations.

Pulsate and PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE –Percussion Ensemble offers an introduction to and continuation of the written report of percussion performance.  Students written report the basics of rhythm and music reading too as percussion technique while learning various styles of music and learning to mix the rhythmic heritage of various cultures with jazz improvisation to produce music that draws from all styles.  Orchestral percussion instruments, drum sets, timpani and many tuned and mitt instruments are available for written report. Regular practice outside of class is required for success in these classes.

The Electric and Acoustic GUITAR FUNDAMENTALS covers the basics of the instrument and report of essential music fundamentals.  Students learn how to read music note and chord symbols and proceeds an understanding of different musical genres including blues, jazz, rock and pop music.  In addition to guitars, amps may be rented for electric guitars. Regular practice exterior of form is required for success in this grade.

YOUTH ART

A Creative APPROACH TO Art STUDY (Grades 4-6)

THE DESERT Mural THROUGH WATERCOLOR: WATERCOLOR PAINTING (Grades 7-12)

Students larn to apply the techniques of planned drawing and straight watercolor painting to desert landscape fine art.  Using photo reference, the freedom and expression of watercolor painting inspires painters to run into the mural with new eyes.
